Crewbox is a crew communications app for events that runs on a private network. It connects only to a chat server that the event organizer runs themselves — usually a small computer on the event's own Wi-Fi. The makers of Crewbox, LeTissier Creative Studios, never receive your messages, files or name, and do not track you in any way. The only things that can reach us are a crash report or feedback that someone chose to send, described below.
Everything you enter or send is stored on the organizer's server, not with the app's makers or any third party:
If you use push-to-talk voice, your microphone audio is streamed live to the organizer's voice server for other crew to hear while you hold the talk button. The app does not record, save, or transmit your audio anywhere else. When voice runs on the event's own server, joining it contacts nothing else. If the organizer runs their voice server elsewhere, the app asks whichever address-lookup (STUN) servers that server names for your device's internet address; one left at its default settings names Google's and Twilio's.
If a screen in the app breaks, you can press Send report to send the error to us. It holds the app version, your device's platform and system version, and the error message and technical trace, with web-address query strings and network addresses removed on your device — plus a note, if you write one. If you use Send feedback, we receive the type and message you wrote, the app version and platform, and your email address only if you typed it to get a reply. Neither is sent unless you press Send.
Both go first to the organizer's server, which passes them on to us at letissier.ie when it has internet. The organizer can also choose to send crash reports about the server itself; those never contain your messages, name or files. We use reports and feedback only to fix and improve Crewbox. A bug or idea you marked as OK to post publicly may appear on our public issue tracker as the message alone, without your name or email.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from inside the app: open the channel list and tap Delete account. This removes your name, your sign-in, your read state and your direct messages from the organizer's server. Messages you posted in shared channels remain but are no longer shown as yours. You can also sign out at any time to remove the app's data from your device.
Crewbox is a tool for event staff and is not directed at children.
